Hi, I’m David.

I want to help you make a harbor through your storm

In my work with couples, my goal is to help both of you discover a new way of being together. Hurts from the past that keep coming up, different expectations for connection, and the stress from just keeping everything afloat: it adds up. You will get space to be heard, opportunity for safe and honest communication, and over time will experience a more secure connection - making a harbor for each other.

In my work with individuals, my goal is to help you clarify how your identity and values inform how you live your life. If you are struggling in a relationship, feel lost in a difficult transition, or just can’t get out of a bad head space, our work will help you identify and strengthen anchors for your self-concept, your decision making, and your experience of a meaningful life - making a harbor for yourself.

Choosing a therapist is not a light decision. It’s a huge privilege for me to be allowed into your world and I want to honor your choice to do so. Let’s spend a few minutes making sure we’ll be a good fit before beginning our work together.

How Can I Help?

Couples Counseling

I work with couples who are struggling to feel connected. Communication keeps breaking down, often on specific topics, that leaves each person feeling frustrated, confused, and unsure if there is a way to move forward.

Trust

Individual Counseling

I work with individuals who don’t feel like themselves. They are uncertain about their role or purpose in life, they feel anxious about their relationships, they feel worried about the future, or feel stuck in a negative headspace.‍ ‍

Depression

Life Transition

Social Anxiety

Career Transition

Relationship Distress

I am curious, calm, and honest. In this way, I invite my clients to explore their challenges in an environment that is both safe and productive. I will ask questions to learn about you, I will make observations about things I notice that may help or hinder progress, and I will offer action steps based on what we work on. Here are a few other elements you can expect based on your kind of work:

What is a session like?

Couples Counseling

Slowing down and closely examining specific moments of conflict

Noticing patterns of thoughts, perceptions, feelings, and actions in these moments

Connecting these moments to core fears and longings in your relationship

Practicing sharing these core fears and longings with each other

Individual Counseling

Building a “Value Map” of your relational, spiritual, & occupational framework for life

Exploring how those Values currently are informing or not informing your life

Identifying opportunities to take value-based action

Re-defining your sense of self, current circumstances, and the future
